2001 Award Winners

| Narcy Martinez of Austin RentAll Party and Carlos Martinez of The Terrace Club were awarded the ISES (International Special Events Society) ESPRIT Award on August 6, 2002. They were honored with the award in Sydney, Australia at the CPD (Conference for Professional Development) hosted by ISES every year during August. The couple entered their wedding in the category of "Best ISES Team Effort for an Event with a Budget of $10,000 - $50,000 US. Eleven of the thirteen vendors used to produce the event were ISES members. |

The couple met in ISES at a Dallas chapter meeting. Since their first encounter, they spent several hours together trying to get a chapter of ISES started in Austin. They became friends and Carlos became Narcy's customer. Carlos manages a wedding venue and Narcy does party rental coordination. After planning several hundred weddings, they finally got to plan their own. | |||
| The wedding ceremony and reception was held at The Terrace Club on November 24, 2002. It was the only date not booked for the year, Thanksgiving weekend! Because of their experience and the vender's experience producing weddings, they created an award-winning wedding with only 5 months of planning. |

| The ceremony was held indoors. The room was draped with fabric and candlelight to create a dramatic atmosphere. The guests enjoyed music from Schrodinger's Cat, an Austin a cappella group who created music just for their wedding. | ||||
| Immediately following the emotional ceremony, guests went outside into a clear tent for a cocktail reception. It was festively decorated with red and orange tablecloths and chili pepper centerpieces. The Don Leady Trio played Latin music while heart-shaped Mexican Gorditas were served from an action buffet station. After the champagne toast, guests were surprised by a romantic display of fireworks! | ||||
| As the groom invited everyone upstairs for dinner, guests gasped, "There's more!?!" The buffet dinner menu was designed from the bride's favorite movie, "Like water for chocolate." | ||||

The entire event was very organized but the attention to detail is what made it over the top! | |||
| "Winning the award was very exciting! We were very surprised when they called our names because the competition was stiff!, Narcy said. Carlos thanked Damon and Becky Holditch and Donnie and Amy Garcia for their generosity and their involvement in our careers. He also thanked our fellow ISES members whom made our wedding so special." | ||||
